Common Questions

  • Traditionally, flood insurance is purchased through the NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program). Our agents work with the NFIP as well as with private flood insurance companies. These alternative options are often much less expensive and/or offer broader coverage than the NFIP.

  • You may be required to carry flood insurance by your lender (bank). All options we write will comply with the flood insurance standards that most lenders require for compliance.

  • The NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program) has recently redone their program for the first time in 50 years since its inception. This new rating methodology has resulted in drastically reduced premiums compared to what most people in MA are used to seeing. If you have questions about Risk Rating 2.0, feel free to reach out or visit FEMA’s website for more information.
